I need to be able to recover the information on the drive. I went through your steps above to add access to the external hard drive from my work laptop which is a PC. The drives don't even show up in the disk manager so I cannot rename the drives. Please can you help?

A quick fix for my computer work (when my sixteen year old is at school) is merely to delete hs IPOD-Itunes tasks form Windows Task Manager. First, let’s check whether Windows detects the drive when you plug it in. Seagate site says no jumper is needed for this drive. One possible issue is that for smaller drives(e.g. 2 GB), plain FAT might be best, for very large, exFAT might be needed etc.
